BREWSTER – A third area non-profit will soon benefit from Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Community Minute Challenge, with a gift of $2,000.

Now in its third phase, the three-round social media contest invites members of the public to vote on their favorite one-minute video by a select group of Hudson Valley non-profits, as posted on Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page, (www.facebook.com/tompkinsmahopacbank)

The organization that earns the most votes of its video during the contest’s two-week run, November 3 through 17, will win $2,000.

Round one awarded winner the Sparrow’s Nest, a Wappingers Falls-based not-for-profit that provides meals to families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer, with a $2,000 check in May.

For round two, non-profit Gullotta House used its $2,000 winnings in September to aid those with financial or other hardships in Westchester County. Once the winner of round three is announced, a total of $6,000 in donated funds to area non-profits will have been awarded.

“It has been our pleasure to contribute to our area’s non-profits through our Community Minute Challenge,” said Jerry Klein, president and CEO of Tompkins Mahopac Bank. “It’s wonderful to know that the funds are benefiting those in need right in our own backyards.”

The six non-profits competing for the prize money during the challenge’s third round include Dutchess County organizations, Anderson Center for Autism and Julie’s Jungle; Putnam County’s non-profit Green Chimneys; and Westchester County organizations, Hope’s Door, Alliance for Safe Kids and Bridges to Community.

During the challenge’s voting period, November 3 through 17, participants can ‘like’ Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page, (www.facebook.com/tompkinsmahopacbank), click on the Community Minute Challenge app and elect their non-profit of choice.

People can vote once every day for their favorite video that explains how the contest’s winnings will be used.

The winning organization will be posted on Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page at the end of the challenge. By the end of the third round, the three winners will have won a collective $6,000.
