Mr. Anderson Ale

Date February 24, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NO FOOLIN’
MILL HOUSE BREWING AND ANDERSON CENTER FOR AUTISM
CELEBRATE AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH
WITH “MR. ANDERSON ALE” SPECIAL EVENT

The public is warmly invited to partake in a unique and tasty tipple, “Mr. Anderson Ale,” on April 1st at Mill House Brewing Company.  The event marks the second annual Autism Awareness Month collaboration between Poughkeepsie-based Mill House Brewing and Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg, NY.

“Mr. Anderson Ale” is the brainchild of Mill House Brewing’s co-owners and Brewmasters, Jamie Bishop and Larry Stock, and RonDeena Ross, Advancement Officer at Anderson Center for Autism. Bishop described their role: “RonDeena gave us the challenge to create a special ale that would honor Anderson Founder, Victor V. Anderson and his Scottish heritage.” In fact, Vance Gage, Dr. Anderson’s grandson and current Anderson Board Member served as honorary brewmaster when the first batch of Mr. Anderson ale was created.  Says Ross, “Jamie and Larry were not only generous with their time in creating Mr. Anderson Ale, they volunteered to help raise money to support Anderson’s important work.”

Dr. Victor V. Anderson founded Anderson School in 1924. He believed that children with special needs would benefit from an integrated program that comprehensively addressed their education, emotional, and social needs. More than 90 years later, Anderson Center for Autism continues Dr. Anderson’s work, currently serving more than 200 children and adults with a primary diagnosis of autism.

“Mr. Anderson” is a rich custom ale made in the Scottish style – deep copper colored with a smooth mouth feel and a malty, slightly smoky flavor. Larry Stock describes Scottish style ale as “part of an ancient tradition. Scotland has a very long brewing history going back thousands of years.”

Mill House Brewing is generously donating a $1 to Anderson Center for Autism for every pint of Mr. Anderson sold during April.

The ale-appreciating public is invited to join the fun on Friday, April 1st from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Mill House Brewing Company at 289 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Popular WPDH  (101.5 FM) will join the celebration. Stop by to taste the brew, meet the Brewmasters, and enjoy chef paired hors d’oeuvres at the Launch Party.

A limited number of tickets are available for $50 if purchased by Wednesday, March 30th. Tickets are $60 at the door. RSVP to RonDeenaRoss@acenterforautism.org or buy tickets online at andersoncenterforautism.com/mranderson.
