Meet Brandon – The Hero Delivering Food to the Elderly!

I arrive late morning to Stone Ledge Senior Apartments where I’m excitedly greeted by Anderson Community Hero, Brandon. He assists Cindy Hosier, a Transition Assistant at Anderson in pulling out a cart from the car filled with hot and cold meals. These will be delivered to some the seniors living here.

Brandon is volunteering his time for Meals on Wheels, an essential service in our community which helps deliver food to those in need.

“Lead the way Brandon, you know where to go!” Ms. Hosier says. Brandon heads in the direction of a senior apartment on his route and delivers the first meal of the day.

“Cold tray, hot, and bag” Brandon says out loud to remind himself of the order in which the food will be delivered.

He continues his route and delivers to Deb who is excited to see him. “That’s my buddy!” Deb says. Brandon eagerly tells her about his upcoming vacation plans and the two talk for a few minutes.

“Don’t leave without my fist bump!” Deb says to Brandon. The two bump fists and say goodbye. He continues onward to deliver the rest of the meals from his cart.

When asked why Brandon donates his time to Meals on Wheels, he joyfully states “Happy [to help] my friends!”

Here the seniors know Brandon, not only as the person who delivers a tasty meal, but also as a friend and an Anderson Community Hero.
