Poughkeepsie, NY – The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley announced more than $100,000 in grant awards to 22 Dutchess County nonprofits at a reception for grantees held on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg.

The grant awards included the Community Foundations’ own Community Response Grants, and grants from the Northern Dutchess Fund and the Senator Stephen M. Saland Legacy Fund, to support equipment updates, programs and professional development for staff and board members.

Additional support was provided to the Community Response Grants program this year from the Wallbridge Fund and the Lola J. Sherman Trust of New York Community Trust. The new Jeannette F. Schlobach Fund of the Community Foundation of Dutchess County awarded five grants to Dutchess-based organizations that provide programs and services to economically disadvantaged individuals, families and their pets, toward opportunities for greater economic opportunity, self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

Guest speakers included Christine Wolcott, Researcher and Database Manager of the Anderson Center for Autism, Michele Pollock Rich, Executive Director of Grace Smith House, and Christina Boryk,
Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Dutchess County. Each spoke with passion about the ways in which funding received through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley makes a difference in the lives of the people they serve.

“We are proud to support the excellent work of these Dutchess County nonprofit organizations and their tremendous dedication to improving the quality of life and addressing the challenges people in our community face daily,” said March S. Gallagher, Esq., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. “A gift to the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley is a gift back to our region. The donors who create their funds with us and the nonprofits who choose to place their endowments with us know that we are their trusted partner in addressing our region’s most pressing needs.”
