Mill House Brewing Company to Tap Craft Brew and Raise Funds for Anderson Center for Autism
Mill House Brewing Company announces the return of its Mr. Anderson Ale tradition, brewing a philanthropic beer to raise funds and awareness for Anderson Center for Autism
Poughkeepsie, New York…Anderson Center for Autism and Mill House Brewing Company have announced details of the 11th annual Mr. Anderson Ale event, to be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 5-7pm at Mill House Brewing Company (in the third floor loft at 289 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie). The fundraiser will once again give guests an opportunity to enjoy Mill House’s custom craft brew, which is named for Anderson Center for Autism’s founder, Dr. Victor V. Anderson.
Said Patrick Paul, CEO/Executive Director of Anderson Center for Autism: “April is Autism Acceptance Month, and we’re thrilled to kick it off with this annual tradition, which not only honors Anderson’s history, but helps further our mission of optimizing the quality of life for individuals with autism. We are extremely grateful to Mill House Brewing Company for championing our cause year after year, and anticipate another fun and meaningful celebration on April 3rd.”
Added Eliza Bozenski, Chief Development Officer for Anderson Foundation for Autism: “In addition to raising funds that support Anderson’s educational, vocational, clinical, residential, and training services, Mill House is helping us cultivate a spirit of
acceptance and understanding within our broader Hudson Valley region. These events bring Anderson team members, families, donors, and community members together – reminding all of us that it really ‘takes a village’ to enrich life for autistic and neurodivergent people.”
Jamie Bishop, Brewmaster and Partner of Mill House Brewing Company in Poughkeepsie and is preparing to open their second restaurant in Highland called The Ridge – which boasts views of the Shawangunk Mountains and will also serve as a venue for special events, said, “Our entire team really looks forward to hosting this event every year. Anderson Center for Autism is the first non-profit with whom we got involved when I started this business many years ago, and their work is incredibly impactful in our region and beyond. The annual Mr. Anderson Ale event allows us to bring community members together for a great cause. We’ve had guests come for the beer and then decide to get involved with Anderson’s work; it’s very rewarding. And it’s an honor to share the experience with Vance Gage, the grandson of Anderson Center for Autism’s founder and someone who’s become near and dear to my heart over the years since we brewed our first edition of Mr. Anderson Ale.”
Gage was the honorary brewmaster when the first batch of Mr. Anderson Ale was created, and remains involved with Anderson, having served for many years as a trustee and continuing as a subcommittee volunteer. He is expected to attend on April 3rd.
Proceeds of the Mr. Anderson Ale event will directly benefit programs and services provided by Anderson Center for Autism. Tickets are $35 per person; advance purchase (by Monday, March 24th) is required – no tickets will be sold at the door. Note that New York State law requires that attendees must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol.
Each ticket will include cocktail party appetizers, select beer, and wine. There will also be raffles throughout the evening.
Following the launch event on April 3rd, $1 of every pint sold by Mill House Brewing Company during Autism Acceptance Month will be donated to Anderson Center for Autism. Mill House will also be offering a select amount of sixtel kegs to help spread awareness and raise additional funds.
Restaurants and bars who are interested in joining Mill House’s efforts to support Anderson Center for Autism through sixtel donations or by adding the Mr. Anderson Ale signature brew to their respective menus can contact Bishop by email: beer@millhousebrewing.com.
